You may be wondering what’s so life-changing about cacao as a coffee alternative and superfood. Well, I want to share my story with you and how cacao not only came into my life but how it transformed it.

My name is Tina, and I am the Founder and Owner of Cacao Culcha. My relationship with cacao stemmed from grief, suffering and much loss. Within a matter of months, I lost my Dad to cancer, my Mum’s health failed and my partner of 22 years left. I found myself scrambling for answers and the impact threw me into the depths of depression. I am a mum of two beautiful teenagers who I have raised with high morals and values, so when our world was flipped upside down, I had to find a way to rise above; that is where cacao comes in.
Ceremonial Cacao – Organic, Peruvian Plant-Based and Sugar-Free ∴∴∴∴
My friend was the one who first introduced me to cacao. When she brought out the cacao, my first reaction was “chocolate?” to which she replied, “no, cacao”. There is a difference. Read about it here.
I had researched the plant-based medicine but hadn’t experienced it for myself. The first cacao brew I experienced was at home with my daughter, and not knowing what to expect, we sat down and sipped our cacao together.
For me, the cacao effects were almost instant. I had a feeling of utopia come over me, and I was able to leave behind all my negative thoughts, my overthinking and connect with my inner self. It was such a relief to have a reprieve from my sadness and grief and see myself for who I really am.
For me, cacao represents:

That night when we experienced our first cacao ceremony, my daughter and I connected for hours, and it was my first appreciation for why cacao ceremonies are so powerful. My daughter and I spoke about everything and anything. I had always been her mum first and foremost, but that night sparked the beginning of a friendship and my daughter is now my best friend.
